Tourist information
New York is a magical city, which is renewed every day. There are so many different things to see and do in the city that it is not in a few days that you will be able to discover all its points of interest. In fact, even those who live in the Big Apple end up not knowing the full variety of programs, new attractions and restaurants that appear every day.
And since it is not possible to see everything that New York has to offer in a few days, it is essential that you choose the places that most arouse your interest. For a first trip to the city, we suggest that you create an itinerary that includes the basic tourist spots, the most emblematic ones, and mix them with those that most call your attention and that you most want to know.
If you want to visit the main points of the city, be sure to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island , Central Park , Times Square , Brooklyn Bridge , Fifth Avenue , Ground Zero and the Empire State or Top of the Rock for a view stone jungle general.
For cultural programs, the options are numerous. There are several museums in the city, the main ones being the MET , Museum of Natural History , MoMa and the Guggenheim - all four have an incredible collection, with some of the most valuable works in the world. If you can't, or want to, go to all of them, analyze the focus of each of the museums and go to the one that has the most to do with your profile. Our suggestion is to at least go to the MET, which has a huge collection and a lot of potential to please; even if you don't like art that much, you'll enjoy the view from the rooftop. If museum is your thing, the Whitney Museum , Frick Collection , Transit Museum are also worth a visit .and the new 9/11 Memorial Museum .
The parks are part of the city's scenery and it is very interesting the way they integrate with its look. Those huge concrete buildings are now and then around a green area that makes for good walks to rest. Central Park , of course, is a must-visit any time of year. In the summer the place is very lively and full of people, in the spring it is full of flowers, in the autumn it is full of colorful leaves and in the winter it is snowy - it is passion for sure. The High Line , a hanging park built over an old train line, is also worth a stroll on a sunny Saturday, and Hudson River Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park are perfect in the late afternoon to admire the setting sun.
If you like shopping, NY is the perfect city because it brings together the main brands in the world, from the most famous to the super popular. For shopping, visit Fifth Avenue , the surrounding Herald Square , SoHo and, if you want to find killer prices at the outlets, spend a day at Jersey Gardens or Woodbury Premium Outlets , an amazing outlet for those traveling with a purchases.
For food, New York is heaven. There are all kinds of restaurants in the city, from the most luxurious and expensive ones with incredible views, to the simplest street carts. Don't miss a visit to Eataly and Chelsea Market , markets that will get any foodie excited. If the weather is nice, take the opportunity to buy take-out food and do like New Yorkers, who take their pots out on the street and dine outdoors, in any park. In the evening, take a stroll through Times Square
